Following SSU investigation, lawyer-collaborator who spied on checkpoints in Kramatorsk and planned escape to russia sentenced to 14 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another FSB agent, who operated in Donetsk region, has been convicted to prison. The traitor provided locations of Ukrainian troops defending Kramatorsk to the enemy.

The occupiers were interested in the coordinates of checkpoints and fortifications in the city and its suburbs.

To obtain the data, the FSB engaged an informant, a local lawyer who had been living in russia for a long time and came to the attention of the russian intelligence services.

The lawyer returned to Kramatorsk before the full-scale invasion and in the spring of 2023 received his first assignment from his russian handler.

To carry out it, the asset walked in the target area, secretly recording the locations he needed, and then put them on a Google map for a report to the FSB.

For each task, the enemy promised their informant money, which was to be transferred to his bank card.

In addition, the handlers promised him exfiltration to russia in the future. However, the SSU thwarted the occupiers’ plans and detained their accomplice in the summer of 2023, when he was preparing to flee to russia.

During the search, the SSU seized 2 mobile phones and SIM cards, which the perpetrator used to communicate with the FSB.

The court found the accused guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration) and sentenced him to 14 years in prison.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
