Following SSU’s investigation, court sentences to 14 years behind bars russian agent who spied on AFU positions in Kramatorsk
The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence proving the guilt of another russian agent, who collected intelligence on deployment of Ukrainian troops on the eastern front.
His main assignment was to identify combat positions of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine near Kramatorsk.
The agent also provided the enemy with intelligence on locations and routes of movement of Ukrainian law enforcement officers in the region.
The criminal was detained as a result of a special operation of the SSU Counterintelligence in Donetsk region in May this year. A mobile phone with evidence of covert communication with the enemy was seized from the suspect.
Court sentenced the offender to 14 years of imprisonment.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a local resident, who was recruited by russian special services after the start of the full-scale invasion.
The man came to the attention of the aggressor because of his pro-kremlin views, which he repeatedly expressed among others. The individual talked about a ‘quick’ capture of the Ukrainian city and establishment of moscow regime.
Following invaders’ instructions, he drove around Kramatorsk and filmed the movement of Ukrainian troops.
The agent passed the collected intelligence to his russian handler as geolocation marks on electronic maps. Messenger apps were used for communication.
For this, the agent received money from the aggressor state. The amount depended on relevance and importance of information.
However, the SSU timely exposed the spy and documented his criminal actions.
The enemy’s plans to use intelligence to prepare and conduct targeted missile strikes on Kramatorsk were derailed.
Based the collected evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (assisting the aggressor state in conducting military activities against the AFU).
The SSU Counterintelligence and investigators of the SSU Donetsk and Luhansk Office carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
