Following SSU investigation, FSB agent ‘007’, who spied in Zaporizhzhia posing as volunteer, sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, an agent of russia’s federal security service has been convicted to 15 years of imprisonment. The woman operated in Zaporizhzhia and used a code name ‘007’.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained her in early September 2022, when she was reconnoitering the bases of the Defense Forces.

The perpetrator was a resident of the temporarily occupied Pology district. She was recruited there and sent to Zaporizhzhia as a ‘volunteer’.

After arriving in the city, the agent tried to establish personal contacts with Ukrainian defenders and use her new connections to obtain intelligence.

According to the FSB’s orders, she was supposed to identify and pass the geolocations of the AFU staffs, fortifications and firing positions in Zaporizhzhia region to her russian handler.

An anonymous chat in a messenger app was used for communication.

Along with documenting the traitor’s intelligence activities and detaining her, the SSU took steps to protect the locations of the Defense Forces.

The court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Zaporizhzhia and Ternopil regions under the procedural supervision of regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
