Following SSU’s investigation, two traitors sentenced to 15 years in prison for leaking Kharkiv defenders’ positions to enemy
Based on the SSU’s evidence, the court has convicted another two GRU agents who operated in Kharkiv oblast.
After the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, they passed the geolocations of the Defence Forces in the area to the aggressor.
The informants were focusing on intelligence collection on Ukrainian units taking part in the battle for Kharkiv.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained both perpetrators in August 2022 as a result of a special operation.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced them to 15 years in prison.
One of the convicts is a resident of Chuhuiv district who passed the intelligence to the occupiers through her husband. The spouse is a former serviceman of the disbanded militsiya who moved to the temporarily occupied territory in eastern Ukraine in 2014.
There, he joined the terrorist groups of the so-called ‘luhansk people’s republic’ and later became a ‘liaison’ of the GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces).
Having stayed in Kharkiv region, his wife involved a fellow villager, an employee of an energy company, into the reconnaissance and sabotage activities.
Under the pretext of checking the power supply, he gained access to the ‘necessary’ facilities to collect information on the Defence Forces’ locations.
The man passed the data to his accomplice, who then forwarded the ‘reports’ to the GRU. Anonymous chats in a messenger app were used for communication.
Based on the evidence, the court found both accused guilty under Articles 28.2, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Kharkiv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
