Following SSU investigation, FSB agent convicted to 15 years in prison for preparing missile strikes on Kirovohrad region airfields
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, an FSB agent who was preparing a series of russian air attacks on Kirovohrad oblast has been sentenced to prison.
On the instructions of russian intelligence, their accomplice was to adjust missile strikes on the Defence Forces’ airfields.
To carry out the assignment, the perpetrator walked around the perimeters of aviation infrastructure facilities and tried to detect Ukrainian combat aircraft as well as possible presence of air defence systems.
The asset was supposed to pass the data to his russian handler to guide enemy fire at the targets, evading Ukrainian air defences.
The SSU detained the agent in early summer 2023, when he was conducting reconnaissance near a strategic site.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
The investigation established that the enemy accomplice was a handyman from Kropyvnytskyi, whom the FSB recruited remotely in early 2023.
The man’s anti-Ukrainian posts on pro-kremlin Telegram channels brought him to the attention of the russian service.
The traitor was in direct contact with a serving officer of the FSB’s 5th service, who was in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
An anonymous chat in a messenger app was used for communication, and the informant began each session with a code word.
For his cooperation with the aggressor, the asset received payments in cryptocurrency.
During the search of the suspect, the SSU seized a mobile phone which he used in reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
