Following SSU investigation, FSB agent who spied on Kharkiv's defensive frontiers is sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another FSB agent, who operated on the border of Kharkiv region, has been convicted to prison.
According to the investigation, he collected information for the russian federation about the locations and movements of the Defence Forces units on the territory of the Vovchansk city.
He was interested in the geolocation of the fortifications and fortified areas that ensure the defence of the regional centre from the north-east.
The occupiers needed the intelligence to prepare missile, bomb, and artillery strikes on the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
The SSU detained the russian agent in November 2023 during a special operation in the region.
After the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
According to the investigation, the convict is a 42-year-old Vovchansk resident who was recruited by the russian special service during the occupation of the city.
Then the man was on stand-by and in July 2023 he was assigned his first tasks.
To collect intelligence, the man travelled around the city by public transport and covertly took pictures of the places where Ukrainian troops were likely to be.
Then the perpetrator "reported" the information to the FSB using an anonymous chat in a messenger.
After the SSU’s investigation, the court found the enemy agent guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
