Following SSU’s investigation, militant-sadist who led civilians to ‘execution’ in Kherson oblast sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court has convicted another member of russian occupation troops involved in mass torture of civilians in the left-bank Kherson region.

The perpetrator abused his victims and threatened them with murder. The investigators have documented cases when he shot at the legs of abducted local residents or fired next to their heads, imitating a shooting.

The SSU and the AFU captured the militant during a special operation in the temporarily occupied part of the region. The offender was then brought to the Ukraine-controlled territory to be brought to justice.

Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 12 years in prison. Given the man’s previous conviction of high treason, the criminal will spend 15 years behind bars for the aggregate of his offences.

According to the investigation, the torturer is a former resident of the occupied Zhdanivka, Donetsk region, who voluntarily joined the terrorists in eastern Ukraine in 2014.

With the onset of russia’s full-scale invasion, he was transferred to the 3rd rifle platoon of the 1st company of the 5th battalion of the 109th regiment of russia’s Southern military district.

Together with the invaders, he fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces and took part in occupying the left-bank Kherson region.

The militant abused civilians, trying to force them to ‘confess’ to their involvement in the resistance movement.

Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 438.1 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war).

The SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
