Following SSU investigation, ex-communist council member sentenced to 15 years in prison for adjusting missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another agent of russia’s FSB, who guided missiles at Zaporizhzhia, has been convicted to prison.

Using his coordinates, the russians carried out a series of air strikes on the city in April-May 2022.

3 local residents were killed by the attacks, 30 private houses were destroyed and one industrial enterprise was damaged.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the enemy spy in May 2023.

The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison, following an investigation by the SSU.

The perpetrator is a former communist member of Zaporizhzhia City Council. In 2001, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison for planning a coup d’état in Ukraine.

In late 2022, he was remotely recruited by the FSB to gather intelligence on locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces and defence plants.

To carry out the enemy instructions, the traitor elicited information from his former party colleagues, who unwittingly provided some data.

He then personally drove to the area and covertly photographed and videotaped Ukrainian targets.

The agent transmitted the information to the FSB via a popular messenger app with detailed descriptions of potential targets and surrounding areas.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Zaporizhzhia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
