Following SSU investigation, FSB mole, who spied for russia on Ukraine’s northern border, sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU and the State Border Guard Service, an enemy agent, who operated in Volyn region, has been convicted to imprisonment.
He is a 40-year-old assistant to head of unit in a local border guard detachment, who was remotely recruited by russia’s federal security service.
On the instructions of the russian service, the asset collected information on bases, routes and weapons of the Defense Forces protecting the region.
The aggressor was interested in the locations of fortifications and number of Ukrainian troops on the defensive lines.
The SSU detained the traitor in June this year and identified his russian handler – Aleksey Dobrytskyi, an FSB serviceman stationed in the temporarily occupied Luhansk.
After the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced the mole to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of military rank.
The individual came to the FSB’s attention while serving in eastern Ukraine. He was later transferred to Volyn region, where he began performing enemy assignments.
For his cooperation with the occupiers, the spy expected to be extracted to russia and be appointed to a position in russian military formations.
The court found the perpetrator guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Volyn region jointly with the State Border Guard Service security unit under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
