Following SSU investigation, GRU mole sentenced to 15 years in prison for spying at Kyiv defense plant
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another enemy agent has been convicted to prison. He spied on the movement of Ukrainian weapons towards the eastern and southern fronts.
According to the investigation, the traitor is a 50-year-old local resident who worked for the russian military intelligence.
To fulfill enemy tasks, he got a job at one of Kyiv plants that fulfilled state defense orders.
The spy also monitored the consequences of russian air strikes on the territory of the region and passed this information to his handler.
The SSU Counterintelligence identified the agent at an early stage, documented his activities and detained him in a special operation in Kyiv in early February 2023.
The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
According to the investigation, the man came to the attention of the occupiers through his acquaintances in russia, with whom he maintained contact.
To collect information on the consequences of enemy strikes, the perpetrator traveled around the city and covertly took georeferenced pictures of the damaged buildings.
He sent the obtained data via a messenger to his russian handler, who then reported to the GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces).
The accused was found guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Vinnytsia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
