Following SSU’s investigation, russian agent spying on SSU and AFU buildings sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another member of an FSB agent network dismantled in September 2022 in Kyiv oblast has been convicted to prison.

At that time, all four members of the enemy group were detained. They were collecting intelligence on Ukraine’s Defence Forces and critical infrastructure in Kyiv region.

The court has now sentenced one of the russian agents to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator covertly photographed the buildings of the Security Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine and recorded number plates of service vehicles in the defence agencies’ car parks.

He also passed to the aggressor coordinates of key heat generating enterprises providing heating to civilian infrastructure.

For each completed assignment, the FSB agent received up to UAH 10,000 from his russian handler. The funds were transferred to cryptocurrency wallets and bank cards issued to bogus persons.

The occupiers needed the intelligence to carry out targeted missile strikes on Kyiv.

The SSU detained the agent while he was completing an assignment for russians.

According to the investigation, the aggressor’s asset is a 32-year-old ‘street food’ vendor who moved to the capital after the occupation of Kherson.

He came to the attention of russian intelligence through a russian Telegram channel, when he tried to find additional source of income.

In August 2022, the man was contacted by an FSB officer in Rostov region, who subsequently recruited him.

Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

Two of his accomplices are already serving their sentences behind bars. The indictment against the fourth member of the FSB agent group has been sent to court.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
