Following SSU’s investigation, traitor who adjusted russian missile strike on high-rise building in Zaporizhzhia sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the head of an FSB agent network has been convicted to prison for adjusting russian air attacks on Zaporizzhia.
On 18 October 2023, using the data provided by him, the invaders hit an apartment building with S-300 missiles.
As a result, 5 people were killed and another 5 – seriously injured.
The SSU detained the traitor during a special operation in Zaporizhzhia in December 2023.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
The investigation revealed that the perpetrator was an ideological supporter of ruscism. In October 2023, the man was recruited remotely by an FSB officer who arrived for a rotation in the temporarily occupied Dniprorudne, Zaporizhzhia oblast.
To recruit him, the FSB engaged his acquaintance, an entrepreneur living in the temporarily occupied part of the region and cooperating with the russian service.
For conspiracy, the newly recruited asset chose the code name ‘Palestinian’ and created an anonymous chat in Telegram.
To collect intelligence, he gathered a group of informants, which included four Zaporizhzia residents. Among them were an employee of the city water utility and a company sales representative who regularly travelled around the city.
The members of the group were used unwittingly. At personal meetings, they drank alcohol together, and the enemy agent would try to elicit the ‘necessary’ information during conversations about the situation in Zaporizhzhia.
‘Palestinian’ sent the obtained data via a messenger to his FSB handler in the temporarily occupied Dniprorudne.
To keep the conversations secret, they had chosen code words in advance. The ‘password’ was used to begin each next session.
During the searches at the homes of the detained FSB agent and his accomplices, the SSU seized computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of reconnaissance and sabotage activities, as well as prohibited soviet and pro-kremlin symbols.
The court found ‘Palestinian’ guilty under Articles 28.2 and 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed upon prior conspiracy, by a group).
The investigation is underway and is carried out by the SSU Zaporizhzhia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
