Following SSU’s investigation, traitor who passed information on Ukraine’s northern borders defence to russia sentenced to 15 years in prison

The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence against another russian agent who collected intelligence on the defence of border areas in Chernihiv oblast.

According to the investigation, the enemy was interested in the locations of the units of the SSU, the AFU, the State Border Guard Service, the Police and the State Emergency Service.

The aggressor’s agent also planned to pass to his russian handler the locations of a district hospital and the local military-civilian administration.

For each completed assignment, the occupiers promised him up to UAH 3,000 paid to his bank card.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the spy in October 2022.

Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

Investigators established that the criminal is a repeatedly convicted resident of Sievierodonetsk, who had previously served a sentence for theft and robbery.

Several years ago, the man moved to Chernihiv region as an IDP from eastern Ukraine.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he was recruited by an employee of a russian special service, who gave the asset an operational name ‘Tor’ and instructed to conduct reconnaissance and subversive activities.

Following the orders, the agent took georeferenced photographs of Ukrainian targets and marked their geolocation on electronic maps.

Then, he sent these data to the enemy service via a messenger app.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the accused guilty of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Chernihiv region under the procedural supervision of the oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
