15 years of imprisonment for militant spy over seizing SSU office in Mariupol
The evidence base resulted in imprisonment in absentia of another two traitors standing against the Ukrainian Defence Forces. In particular, it comes to a commander of a russian reconnaissance platoon taking part in the seizure of the SSU office in Mariupol.
The investigation revealed a native of Donetsk region yet in 2014 voluntarily joined the terrorist formation in eastern Ukraine. The individual looked like to be assigned to the separate motorized rifle brigade "Slavyanskaya" of the dpr people's militia under the command of the russia`s Southern military district. The terrorist bosses used him to engage in active hostilities against the ATO forces.
The traitor later headed an enemy reconnaissance unit, so at the end of February 2022 he was participating in battles on the eastern front, particularly in Mariupol.
Another convict is a resident of Donetsk region who enlisted in July 2019 in the "separate artillery brigade of special purpose 'Kalmius' of the 1st Army Corps of russia.
Following the outbreak of a full-scale russian invasion, the militant was dispatched to the front lines of the eastern and southern fronts, conducting artillery shelling of the Ukrainian armed forces.
The perpetrator has also employed anti-tank weapons to deter counteroffensive operations of Ukrainian troops.
In light of the available evidence, the court found both enemy accomplices guilty under three articles of the CCU:
- Part 1 and 2, Art. 111
- Part 1, Art. 258-3
- Part 2, Art. 260
Following the SSU investigation, the court sentenced them to 15 years of imprisonment in absentia with forfeiture of property.
Since the convicts are in the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine, complex measures are under way to prosecute them.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU in Lviv region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor's office.
