Following SSU’s investigation, two russian agents, who helped enemy capture Lysychansk and provided intelligence on AFU’s positions in Kharkiv, will spend 15 years in prison
The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence proving the guilt of two russian agents who conducted reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine.
On the aggressor’s instructions, they gathered intelligence on bases and deployment of the Defence Forces during the battles on the eastern front.
Primarily, the informants were interested in accurate coordinates of combat positions of Ukrainian defenders near Kharkiv and Lysychansk.
Occupiers used these data to prepare and launch targeted missile and artillery strikes and storm settlements.
The SSU detained the agents as a result of special operations in Kharkiv and Luhansk regions in March and May 2022.
The court has now sentenced them to 15 years in prison, following the SSU’s investigations.
According to the investigation, one of the agents helped the enemy troops capture Lysychansk.
To do this, the individual covertly collected and passed to the invaders data on locations of fortifications and firing positions of Ukrainian troops.
The other convict is an engineer at a branch of Kharkiv Heating Networks utility company.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, the traitor ‘informed’ the aggressor on deployment of Ukrainian armoured vehicles in the area and adjusted enemy strikes on critical infrastructure facilities.
Both informants passed intelligence to the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine through ‘liaisons’ in the 1st and 2nd army corps of russia’s Southern military district.
Anonymous messenger apps and banned social networks were used to send information on Ukrainian targets.
Based on the evidence collected, the court found the accused guilty of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the investigations under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
