Following SSU’s investigation, court sentences enemy agent who adjusted russian missile strikes on Mykolaiv schools to 8 years in prison
The SSU collected irrefutable evidence proving the guilt of another informant of the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces (the GRU).
The offender was adjusting enemy strikes on civilian infrastructure in Mykolaiv region.
It was on his ‘information’ that the russian occupiers launched a missile attack on two local schools. As a result of the enemy air strike, both buildings were completely destroyed.
The SSU detained the criminal in August 2022 as a result of counter-sabotage efforts in the frontline areas of the region.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 8 years in prison.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is the former head of a security unit at an infrastructure facility in Mykolaiv.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, the russian GRU remotely engaged him in covert cooperation.
The man came to the attention of russian intelligence because of his activity in pro-kremlin Telegram channels, where he repeatedly published his comments in support of russia’s armed aggression.
During the search of the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone that he used to communicate with the russian handler.
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the offender guilty under two articles of the CCU:
- 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on sending, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, transfer, movement or deployment of the AFU or other lawful military formations);
- 436-2.2, 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The SSU emphasizes the inevitability of punishment for crimes against Ukraine.
The SSU Mykolaiv Office conducted the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
