SSU seizes UAH 1 billion worth of property of Yanukovych’s trustee

The SSU and the National Police have seized property of a former member of parliament, who is suspected of financing russian occupation troops.

The total amount of the blocked assets is over UAH 1 bln (USD 23.8 mln). These include bank accounts and 4 apartments in Kyiv, a house and land near the capital, as well as 7 premium cars, including a Maybach.

The suspect was a trustee of the fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych and a member of the banned party of regions.

Before the start of the full-scale war, he moved abroad and organized wholesale production of medicines for the illegal armed groups of the terrorist organization ‘DNR’.

These medications are painkillers for the militants’ individual first aid kits and military hospitals of the self-proclaimed republics.

To produce the medicines, the former parliamentarian uses a pharmaceutical company controlled by him in the temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk oblast.

After opening accounts in the ‘republican bank of the DNR’, the company paid annual taxes to the budget of the terrorist organization ‘DNR’, which were then used to finance illegal armed groups.

Based on the evidence collected, the National Police investigators notified the persons involved of suspicion under Article 258-5.3 of the CCU (financing of terrorism, committed by an organized group).

The investigation is carried out jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
