Following SSU’s investigation, ‘expert’ from Medvedchuk’s TV channels who called to ‘dismantle’ Ukraine sentenced to 10 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court convicted the pro-kremlin propagandist Mykhailo Shpir.

Shpir praised the aggressive policy of russia’s military and political leadership and justified the temporary occupation of Ukraine.

He also called for violence against the Ukrainian military and discredited one of the religious denominations.

Before the full-scale invasion, the man regularly appeared on air of ‘Medvedchuk’s media holding’ and positioned himself as an ‘expert’.

To evade justice, Shpir fled to moscow back in 2020 and after the start of the full-scale invasion was one of the first kremlin propagandists to support russian occupiers’ actions.

Based on the findings of the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The accused was found guilty under three Articles of the CCU:

  • 110 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
  • 161 (violation of equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds);
  • 436-1 (production, distribution of communist and nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and nazi totalitarian regimes).

The term of the convict’s sentence will begin when he is taken into custody.

The SSU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
