Following SSU’s investigation, occupation director of Berdiansk sea port, who helped russia steal USD 30 mln worth of Ukrainian grain, convicted to 10 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court sentenced the head of the occupied Berdiansk commercial sea port for facilitating the looting of Ukrainian grain.
Under his management, since June 2022, the ruscists have transported almost 150 thousand tons of wheat from Berdyansk to russia, its total worth being over USD 30 mln.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced the ‘official’ to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. Since the criminal is hiding in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, he will start serving his sentence on the day of his arrest.
The offender is former head of an operational response unit at Berdiansk port, who, after the occupation, began collaborating with the aggressor.
For this, gauleiter Oleksandr Saulenko submitted the man’s ‘candidacy’ for the ‘position’ of the chief of the seized facility.
After the ‘appointment’, the collaborator began fulfilling the kremlin’s instructions to transfer all the port’s property to russia’s occupation administration.
However, his main task was to assist the invaders in a massive ‘export’ of Ukrainian grain from Ukraine’s southern region to the aggressor state.
To do this, the ‘official’ used the seagoing vessels Sormovsky-48 and ZHIBEK ZHOLY, accompanied at anchorage by the warships of the russian Black Sea fleet.
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the enemy accomplice guilty of aiding the aggressor state (Article 111-2 of the CCU).
Comprehensive efforts are underway to bring the convicted individual to justice for crimes against our state.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
