Following SSU’s investigation, priest of moscow patriarchate’s church, who informed enemy on AFU positions in Severodonetsk, sentenced to 12 years in prison

The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence of guilt of another two russian agents. They gathered intelligence on deployment of Ukrainian Defence Forces in Luhansk region and ‘gave up’ ATO veterans to ruscists.

One of the enemy’s accomplices is a rector of a Lysychansk church that belongs to the moscow patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The priest passed information on Ukrainian combat positions in Lysychansk and near Severodonetsk to occupiers.

The enemy was mainly interested in the number of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The agent also provided information to the aggressor on local patriots who could potentially resist the occupation forces.

The law enforcement detained the traitor in April this year.

Based on the collected evidence, court sentenced him to 12 years in prison.

According to the investigation, the cleric was recruited by a serviceman of the russian occupation army during a trip to russia in 2014.

Since then, a leader of one of the LNR’s terrorist groups, who fought against the ATO forces in eastern Ukraine, had been in constant contact with the priest.

After the full-scale invasion began, the rector of the church collected and passed to him intelligence on the AFU units.

The court found the offender guilty under the Articles 28.2 and 111-1.7 of the CCU (assisting the armed formations of the aggressor state in conducting military actions against the AFU, committed by a group upon prior conspiracy).

Apart from the described case involving a clergyman of UOC-MP, the SSU exposed another priest of moscow’s patriarchate in Luhansk region, who voluntarily cooperated with the enemy.

Staying in the temporarily occupied territory, he provided ruscists with information on members of the resistance movement, in particular ATO veterans.

According to preliminary data, it was on his ‘tip’ that ruscists abducted two Ukrainian patriots.

The suspect is currently hiding from justice in the occupied part of eastern Ukraine.

His unlawful actions are investigated by the SSU within the criminal proceeding under Article 111 of the CCU (high treason). The efforts to bring the traitor to justice are under way.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions exposed the offenders jointly with the National Police and with the procedural supervision of Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
