Following SSU’s investigation, russian state duma member who voted for recognition of ‘L/DNR’ convicted to 15 years in prison

The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence of guilt of Denys Maidanov, a member of the lower house of the russian federal assembly, who facilitated the seizure of part of Ukraine’s eastern regions.

On February 15 this year, he supported the resolution to appeal to the russian president with a request to recognize the ‘independence’ of the occupied districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In addition, on February 22, the russian deputy voted in favour of the ratification of the ‘treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance’ between the aggressor state and the terrorist organizations ‘L/DNR’.

In this way, the official contributed to the implementation of the kremlin’s plan to capture Ukraine.

The relevant decisions of the russian state duma were used by the enemy top military-political leadership as a formal pretext for launching a full-scale invasion.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found Maidanov guilty under the Article 110.3 of the CCU (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Since the convict is currently in russia, the beginning of the sentence is determined from the day of his actual detention.

The SSU Office in Chernivtsi region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
