Following SSU’s investigation, enemy agent who scouted Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka and Bakhmut sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another FSB agent, who collected intelligence on deployment and movement of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Donetsk region, was convicted to prison.
The enemy accomplice tried to identify and pass to the occupiers coordinates of the AFU’s firing positions and strongholds near Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Toretsk.
The SSU detained the suspect as a result of counter-sabotage efforts in December 2022. At that time, the perpetrator was trying to hide from law enforcement in his home.
In the wall of his home, the SSU found a mobile phone that was used for covert communication with the aggressor.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced the spy to 15 years in prison.
The enemy agent is a 32-year-old resident of Toretsk. After russia’s full-scale invasion, he was recruited remotely to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.
To gather intelligence, the traitor drove in the frontline area and covertly recorded locations of Ukrainian defenders.
He passed the data to his ‘liaison’ from the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region – the so-called ‘deputy of Horlivka unit of the ministry of state security of the DNR’, who ‘reported’ to the FSB.
The invaders needed the intelligence to plan military operations and sabotage attacks against Ukrainian troops on the eastern front.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
