Following SSU’s investigation, traitor who assisted infiltration of russian sabotage group in Mykolaiv sentenced to 15 years in prison

The SSU continues to bring traitors and collaborators to justice. Following the SSU’s investigation, court sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment a russian agent, who was preparing the infiltration of a sabotage and reconnaissance group to Mykolaiv.

The criminal was detained during a special operation of the SSU Counterintelligence in May this year. In this way, the SSU derailed the enemy’s plans to carry out subversive activities in the frontline areas of southern Ukraine.

To fulfil the aggressor’s assignment, the woman carried out surveillance of sites of deployment of Ukrainian Defence Forces, including checkpoints and fortifications in Mykolaiv. The agent was preparing routes for a covert ‘breakthrough’ of russian saboteurs to the Ukraine-controlled areas.

The criminal also found an apartment, which the enemy group were to use as their secret ‘base’ for planning and preparing sabotage.

To disguise her criminal activity, the enemy accomplice rented the apartment in her own name and received money for this from her russian ‘supervisors’.

The SSU documented the ‘transaction’ in the amount of UAH 50,000 (USD 1,200), which she received from the aggressor to her bank card.

In addition, investigators identified the ‘liaison’ - her acquaintance, who is currently in the temporarily occupied Kherson.

It was due to him that russian special services came across the woman and offered her confidential cooperation.

During searches at the enemy agent’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone and computer equipment, which she used to communicate with the enemy.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found the accused guilty of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
