Following SSU’s investigation, russian agent ‘Pobeda’, who spied on AFU units, sentenced to 7 years in prison

The SSU Counterintelligence continues to expose traitors and accomplices of the aggressor state. Following the SSU’s investigation, court sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment an agent of the main directorate of the general staff of russian armed forces (better known as the gru).

The spy was detained in Zhytomyr region during a special operation of the SSU Counterintelligence in June this year.

The investigation established that the woman had been collecting information on location and movement of Ukrainian troops in the northern direction.

She was especially focused on railway routes of transportation of Ukrainian military equipment and ammunition through Zhytomyr region.

The agent was also tasked to identify logistics warehouses with artillery and airfields where Ukrainian combat aircraft was based.

According to the investigation, the traitor is a resident of a village in Zhytomyr region. After the full-scale invasion began, she was recruited by an officer of russian military intelligence, who chose for her the operational nickname – Pobeda [victory].

The woman came to the attention of the aggressor state because of her pro-kremlin posts, which she repeatedly published in the banned social network VKontakte.

The agent was tasked by the enemy to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage in the region. For this purpose, she received instructions from her handler on collecting and transmitting intelligence.

The data was passed through electronic communication channels as GPS-coordinates of Ukrainian targets with their detailed descriptions.

During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone and computer equipment, which the agent used to communicate with the gru.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found the accused guilty of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The SSU emphasizes inevitability of punishment for crimes against Ukraine’s state security.

The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Zhytomyr region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
