SSU investigation leads to conviction of ‘ex-prosecutor’ of temporarily occupied Alchevsk to 8,5 years in prison

The SSU continues to expose and prosecute individuals involved in crimes against state security of Ukraine. The court has convicted a former employee of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine who defected to occupiers. In the temporarily occupied Alchevsk, she headed a unit of the so-called General Prosecutor’s Office of LNR.

According to the investigation, the woman was appointed to the leadership position at the ‘prosecutor's office’ in 2015.

The SSU investigators collected irrefutable evidence that, while on that position, she ensured enforcing of the occupiers’ illegal ‘laws’.

Following the terrorists’ instructions, she was responsible for control over re-registration of seized Ukrainian enterprises and collection of taxes from them for the ‘LNR’ budget, pressured businesses, authorized illegal detentions and arrests of Ukrainian citizens.

In 2017, based on evidence collected by the SSU, the ‘prosecutor’ was declared wanted. She was notified in absentia of suspicion of a crime under Article 258-3.1 (support of establishment or operation of a terrorist organization) of the CCU.

Lysychansk City Court, having considered the indictment in absentia, found the accused guilty and sentenced her to 8 years and 6 months in prison with confiscation of property.

The verdict came into force.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the investigation under the supervision of Luhansk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
