Following SSU’s investigation, 9 militants who cleared occupied Ukrainian territories face life imprisonment
The SSU has collected evidence against another 9 militants of the terrorist organizations ‘L/DNR’. They were taken prisoner during combat near Avdiivka, Maryinka and Lysychansk in April and May this year.
According to the investigation, the militants actively participated in warfare against Ukrainian Defence Forces.
They also were members of russian punitive squads that cleared the temporarily occupied settlements in Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
During such ‘raids’, the ruscists’ main targets were the Ukrainian military and members of the resistance movement.
Investigators established that these enemy accomplices are residents of the temporarily occupied districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, who joined the ‘L/DNR’ terrorists before the full-scale invasion.
After 24 February 2022, they were transferred to regular units of russia’s Southern military district.
There, they were assigned to ‘positions’ of snipers, grenade launchers, riflemen and assistant machine gunners.
Based on the evidence collected, the SSU served the militants notices of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law);
- 260.2 (creation of unlawful armed groups or participation in their activities).
The suspects are in custody, facing life imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
