Following SSU’s investigation, prosecutor sentenced to life imprisonment for passing information on Ukrainian positions in Mykolaiv oblast to enemy

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court sentenced the former head of Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office to life imprisonment.

Following a public prosecution by the Specialized Military and Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region, the accused was found guilty of high treason (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

According to the investigation, the former head of Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office collaborated with the russian intelligence services, using an intermediary to ‘cover his tracks’.

The traitor provided the enemy with data on:

  • operational situation in Mykolaiv and the region;
  • military and civilian casualties, prisoners of war, places of their detention;
  • consequences of russian strikes on Mykolaiv;
  • daily passwords for checkpoints in the oblast, etc.

To document the spy’s activity, the SSU carried out a special operation: through another individual, the SSU handed over false lists of Ukrainian servicemen killed in action to the suspect. A few days later, a representative of russia, who was also under the SSU’s surveillance, already had these lists.

During the searches, the SSU seized a mobile phone, computer equipment and flash drives containing evidence of the crime.

The court has now sentenced him to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
