Two Yanukovych’s top officials sentenced in absentia after SSU’s investigation

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, former minister of education and science Dmytro Tabachnyk has been sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison, and former head of the State Registration Service Dmytro Vorona has been sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison.

Their property, worth over UAH 200 mln (USD 5 mln), has been confiscated.

Both criminals are hiding in russia and the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, where they are carrying out subversive activities against our state.

They are in direct contact with Oleg Kozlov, officer of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the FSB’s 5th Service.

Under his coordination, Tabachnyk regularly shared with russians his predictions regarding the socio-political situation in Ukraine after the start of russia’s full-scale invasion.

On the enemy’s instructions, he advised gauleiters Saldo and Balytskyi on holding the sham referendum in the temporarily occupied areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Tabachnyk had another task – to help local collaborators reformat the education in line with russian ‘standards’.

For his cooperation with the occupiers, the ex-minister was appointed as an ‘advisor’ and included in the local branch of putin’s united russia party.

As the investigation established, Vorona was also Balytskyi’s adviser. It was he who prepared the appeal to the head of the kremlin, proposing to reward the russian military and collaborators who took part in capturing part of Ukraine.

Among other things, he helped the invaders to set up russian occupation ‘authorities’, in particular, gather like-minded staff for these ‘institutions’.

Vorona later became a ‘senator of the russian federation representing Zaporizhzhia region’ and moved to moscow.

Both traitors are involved in numerous cases of looting local farmers’ property and seizure of their enterprises.

Based on the evidence, the court found Tabachnyk and Vorona guilty under three Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-2.1 (aiding the aggressor state);
  • 28.2, 438.1 (violation of laws and customs of war).

The trial was held in a special court proceeding in absentia.

Efforts are underway to bring the convicted traitors to justice.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Vinnytsia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
