SSU and SBI notify Ukrainian MP of suspicion of high treason
The SSU and SBI have exposed a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the banned Opposition Platform – For Life pro-russian party on collaboration with russia.
The suspect was served a notice of suspicion under Article 111.1 of the CCU (high treason).
It has been established that during russia’s full-scale invasion, the deputy, while staying in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region, voluntarily cooperated with the aggressor.
In particular, he registered controlled enterprises under russian law, opened accounts in local "branches" of russian banking institutions, and organized the production and transfer of goods to the occupation forces.
According to findings, the collaborator’s plants supplied fuel and lubricants for russian military purposes and provided equipment for the construction of enemy fortifications.
When the MP moved to Kyiv, he continued to coordinate enterprises assisting the invaders in the war against Ukraine.
During urgent investigative actions, law enforcement officers found and seized electronic media with evidence of the MP's activities in the interests of russia.
Court is to choose a measure of restraint.
The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is facing up to 15 years in prison.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
