SSU and SBI issue suspicion notice to Yanukovych-era ex-general, who heads FSB ‘branch' in occupied Melitopol
The SSU together with the SBI has documented new crimes of the traitor Serhii Hanzha, a former high-ranking official of the SSU under Yanukovych.
He is involved in organizing mass repressions against civilians in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Since 2014, Hanzha has been hiding in russia, and at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, helped the occupiers spread the kremlin regime.
To do this, he arrived in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, where was appointed head of the so-called ‘state security service of Zaporizhzhia region’.
This pseudo-entity is controlled by the russian FSB and tasked with suppressing the resistance movement in the region.
At this ‘position’, Hanzha has organized mass persecution, abductions and torture of local residents.
People were reportedly abducted from the streets or from their homes and then taken to russian torture chambers.
In the jails, the victims were subjected to brutal torture. In this way, the ruscists were trying to intimidate the population and persuade them to cooperate with the invaders.
Based on the evidence, Hanzha was served an additional notice of suspicion in absentia under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).
In 2015, following the SSU’s investigation, the suspect was put on the international wanted list for high treason.
Efforts are underway to bring the suspect to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The investigation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
