Following SSU’s investigation, former MP from party of regions, who called to receive russian passports, declared wanted

Following an investigation by the SSU, the former Ukrainian MP who publicly supported russia’s armed aggression against our country has been notified of suspicion.

The offender is a representative of Kharkiv branch of the party of regions, who was elected to the Ukrainian Parliament five times from this political force.

After russia launched its full-scale invasion, the individual supported the aggressor state and justified the seizure of part of eastern and southern regions of Ukraine.

In August this year, the suspect published a propaganda post on his official page in one of the social networks.

In his post, he called on residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions to support the invaders and receive russian passports.

The former MP ‘guaranteed’ citizens support from the aggressor state and promised to ‘write off’ credit obligations.

He was also convincing his audience that russia would regularly send ‘humanitarian aid’ to the occupied regions and ‘restore’ the destroyed infrastructure.

According to intelligence, the suspect fled to russia to avoid prosecution.

Based on the collected evidence, Ukrainian law enforcement suspect the individual under the Article 110.1 of the CCU (trespass against Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability).

Currently, the former MP is wanted.

The pre-trial investigation is underway.

Earlier, the offender was notified of suspicion of illegal alienation of over 200 real estate objects and corporate rights of three Ukrainian companies.

In August this year, the SSU seized the offender’s assets worth UAH 600 mln. Subsequently, they were handed over the National Agency of Ukraine for Detection, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU National Statehood Protection Department jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
