Following SSU’s investigation, enemy machine gunner, who captured Mariupol and Volnovakha, receives notice of suspicion

The SSU has collected evidence against another traitor who joined russian occupation groupings and fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Donetsk oblast.

Ukrainian defenders took him prisoner during the AFU’s counteroffensive in Melitopol sector in late November 2023.

The captured enemy serviceman is a Donetsk resident who had voluntarily joined one of the motorised rifle regiments of the Southern military district of the russian army after the full-scale invasion.

The man was appointed as a machine gunner, given weapons and ammunition, as well as a russian ID and a uniform.

The traitor was then sent to tactical and firearms training.

After completing the ‘courses’, he was deployed to the front line and took part in capturing Mariupol and Volnovakha.

For this, the russian command awarded the machine gunner a medal for military merit.

Later, he was transferred to Zaporizhzhia oblast with his unit to deter Ukraine’s counteroffensive in Polohy district.

In addition to firing at the AFU’s positions, the militant was equipping russian checkpoints, trenches and firing points on the southern front.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment.

The investigation is carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
