SSU notifies two citizens of Ukraine of suspicion of treason: occupiers appointed them to senior positions in Kherson

The suspects are the so-called ‘head of Kherson Regional Administration’ and ‘head of Kherson City Administration’.

During temporary occupation of Kherson, the russian military experienced difficulties finding and ‘appointing’ local collaborators to positions. The local population is pro-Ukrainian and understands the absolute illegality of the occupation troops in Kherson.

Due to this, russian special services had to ‘get their agents out of pocket’. They have no respect among Kherson residents and the only thing that connects them with the regional center is background of working in various entities of the city and region.

One of them is a resident of Kyiv, who had lived in Kherson until 1991. russian occupation forces declared him ‘the head of the city administration’ on April 26, 2022.

On the same day, the occupiers appointed a former head of Kherson with pro-Russian views as ‘the head of the regional administration.’

Since the start of the full-scale war, he has supported russian occupation of the city and headed the so-called ‘Salvation Committee for Peace and Order.’ He also organized rallies in support of russian occupation.

Currently, both individuals have been notified of suspicion of treason (Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The traitors are facing sentence to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
