Following SSU investigation, three enemy agents who prepared missile strikes on airfield in Prykarpattia sentenced to 13 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, three enemy agents have been convicted to 13 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property for adjusting russian missile strikes on Ivano-Frankivsk oblast.
The SSU detained the perpetrators in Ukraine’s western region in the first days of the full-scale war.
The aggressor’s accomplices are three residents of Kyiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, recruited by the russian intelligence back in 2021.
They acted in a group and were in contact with several russian handlers through anonymous chats in a messenger app.
The assets were tasked to collect data for a missile strike on an airfield in Prykarpattia and, after the attack, to report on its consequences.
To carry out enemy instructions, the agent from Kharkiv acted under the guise of a ‘travel blogger’. He used a drone to take a panoramic video of the strategic object and posted the footage on Instagram.
Another agent, a woman from Kyiv, settled near the airfield on the eve of the full-scale russian invasion to record takeoffs and landings in real time.
She provided the information to the third member of the intelligence network, who sent the data to the occupiers.
On 24 February 2022, the agents recorded the consequences of the missile strike on the airfield and transmitted the data to the enemy intelligence service.
The SSU apprehended the traitors as they were preparing to flee across the western border.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.1 of the CCU (high treason).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Ivano-Frankivsk Office under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
