Following SSU’s investigation, court sentences informant who ‘hunted’ for HIMARS combat positions to 12 years behind bars (video)
The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence of the guilt of another enemy accomplice, who conducted reconnaissance and subversive activities for the aggressor state.
The offender collected intelligence on deployment and movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donetsk sector.
His primary objective was to identify possible combat positions of High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
The agent also passed to occupiers the precise coordinates of critical infrastructure facilities in this area.
It was due to his ‘information’ that the invaders carried out a strike on the water intake system in Selidove, Donetsk oblast.
The SSU detained the suspect during a special operation in August this year.
Following the SSU’s investigation, court sentenced him to 12 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
The man was found guilty of collaboration (Articles 111-1.7 and 28.2 of the CCU).
According to the investigation, the collaborator is a local resident who, after the start of the full-scale invasion, kept in touch with the occupiers and sought to help in the war against Ukraine.
The agent was a member of the russian-controlled terrorist organization ‘DNR’s people’s militia’ and passed the collected intelligence through a ‘liaison’.
He transmitted the coordinates through banned social networks Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki in the form of photos, marking the targets on electronic maps.
During the search at the offender’s home, the law enforcement found:
- computer equipment,
- flash drives,
- mobile phones with evidence of the crime.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
