Following SSU’s investigation, suspicion notified to another 8 looters from russian army who robbed Ukrainians in Bucha
The looters are servicemen of the armed forces and the national guard of russia.
While in the temporarily occupied territories of Kyiv region, these invaders carried out so-called ‘clearing’ of villages: looted the property of local residents and abandoned homes in order to later send the stolen things to their relatives.
The investigators gathered irrefutable evidence that these individuals violated laws and customs of war.
The investigation identified that most of them are servicemen of the military unit 6720 of the federal service of the national guard of russia. Among them is also a paratrooper from the occupied Crimea.
From February 24 to March 31, 2022, in the temporarily occupied Bucha, these russian soldiers stole ‘trophies’ for themselves - computers and household appliances, jewellery, gadgets, clothes, food, etc.
It has been documented that later russian servicemen sent the stolen property to their relatives in postal shipments from Mozyr, Belarus. These ‘parcels’ were intended for addressees in Altai and Khabarovsk Krai, on Sakhalin and other locations in russia.
Now, all of them have been notified of suspicion of crime under Article 438.1 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war), which is punishable by eight to twelve years in prison.
The SSU Main Directorate for Countering Systemic Threats to State Administration has been working on the case together with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
