Following SSU’s investigation, recidivist, who worked for FSB hoping to get out of prison, sentenced to another 16 years
Due to the evidence collected by the SSU, an already convicted criminal, who started working for the FSB while in jail, has been sentenced to a new prison term.
He tried to ‘curry favour’ with the enemy intelligence service so that he could be included in the exchange lists for helping the aggressor.
The SSU documented that in March-April 2022, using his own connections on the outside, he had passed to the FSB locations of Ukrainian Defence Forces near Bakhmut.
The prisoner’s informants were his acquaintances from the criminal circles of Donetsk oblast, with whom he secretly communicated by mobile phone.
The convict transmitted the information to a serviceman of the FSB in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In return for such cooperation, the russian service promised their accomplice that he would be included in the exchange list and swapped for Ukrainian prisoners.
The criminal hoped to go to russia without further serving his sentence in the aggressor state.
However, the SSU derailed his plans – his unlawful activity was documented, and in April 2023 he was notified of suspicion of high treason.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison. Given that the offender has another year for previous crimes, he will spend a total of 16 years in jail.
According to the investigation, the traitor is a native of Donetsk region who since 2021 had been serving a sentence in Toretsk correctional colony for drug trafficking.
After russia’s full-scale invasion, he was transferred to a penitentiary institution in Chernivtsi region.
The court found the inmate guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The SSU Office in Chernivtsi region carried out the investigation in cooperation with the Department for Execution of Criminal Sentences of the Ministry of Justice under the procedural supervision of Chernivtsi Region Prosecutor’s Office.
