Following SSU investigation, court confirms life sentence for ex-prosecutor who leaked Defence Forces positions in Mykolaiv region to enemy

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the Court of Appeal confirmed a life sentence for the former head of Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office. The convict’s property will be confiscated.

The former official was found guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law), following an investigation by the SSU. The court verdict has now entered into force.

After the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, the individual began to cooperate with the enemy on his own initiative.

Being then the head of Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office, he collected intelligence for the invaders on the operational situation in the region.

Primarily, the ruscists were interested in the consequences of russian missile and drone strikes on Mykolaiv.

The aggressor used the information to prepare new and repeated air attacks on the city.

The official also leaked to the aggressor passwords for checkpoints and information on russian prisoners of war.

To conceal the unlawful activity, the traitor acted through an intermediary.

The SSU detained him as a result of a special operation in early April 2022.

During the searches, the SSU seized a mobile phone, computer equipment and flash drives with evidence of intelligence gathering and sabotage activities for russia.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Military and Defence Sphere of the Southern Region.
