SSU and SBI serve suspicion notice to ex-MP and oligarch who praises putin through ROC communities in Europe
The Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigations have documented new facts of subversive activities by a former member of Ukrainian parliament, who is hiding abroad and publicly justifying russia’s armed aggression.
This is an ex-MP and oligarch who has long been a member of the party of regions and the opposition bloc and has been spreading kremlin narratives.
After the start of the full-scale war, he left for the EU on a charter flight and continued to work in russia’s interests there.
According to the investigation, the person in question was in direct contact with russian orthodox church patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev) and used religious communities in the EU states under the latter’s control to disseminate russian propaganda.
Among other things, the investigation found that he engaged foreign parishioners to discredit Ukraine in the international arena.
Forensic psychological, linguistic and semantic-textual examinations initiated by the SSU have confirmed the facts of his criminal activity in the interests of russia.
Based on the evidence, the perpetrator has been notified of suspicion in absentia under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.1 (high treason);
- 161.2 (violation of equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, region and religious beliefs, committed by an organized group).
Efforts are underway to bring the suspect to justice for the crimes against our state.
The investigation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
