Following SSU and SBI’s investigation, MP is notified of suspicion of organizing draft evasion scheme
The SSU and the SBI have collected evidence against a current MP who is suspected of organizing the illegal departure of conscripts abroad.
The deputy has been served a notice of suspicion under Art. 332 of the CCU (illegal transportation of persons across the state border).
According to the investigation, the MP facilitated the illegal departure of his wife's brother to a neighboring European country.
To carry out the fraud, the offender used a controlled NGO to enter certain people into the Shliakh information system, allegedly as volunteers.
It was established that the lawmaker kept some of the documents necessary for the "client's" escape from Ukraine with his former assistant, a deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council of the 8th convocation, as well as with a CEO of the controlled NGO.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized:
- flash drives and mobile phones with evidence of illegal activity;
- seals, letters, contracts, and other documents used to enter false data into the Shliakh system.
The director of the said NGO has been also served a notice of suspicion under Art. 332 of the CCU (illegal transportation of persons across the state border).
The decision on choosing custody as a measure of restraint is pending. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The suspects are facing up to 7 years in prison.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
