Following SSU’s investigation, court convicts four organizers of sham referendum in Kherson oblast to prison

The SSU has collected substantiated evidence proving the guilt of another four organizers of the unlawful referendum in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson region.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they supported the enemy and offered their assistance in conducting the fake plebiscite.

The SSU detained the collaborators in the course of stabilization measures in the liberated Beryslav district.

Given their cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced them to 5 years in prison; the offenders are banned from holding any positions in government or engaging in activities related to the electoral process for a period of 10 years.

The investigation proved that these individuals had urged local residents to ‘vote’ for the region’s accession to russia.

To do this, they, accompanied by armed occupiers, went to private households and demanded that people put the ‘necessary’ mark in the ‘ballots’.

If people refused, they used psychological pressure and threatened with imprisonment.

Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found them guilty under the Articles 28.2 and 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaboration).

The SSU Office in Kherson region conducted the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
