Following SSU’s investigation, court sentences three militants who stormed cities in Donetsk region to prison
The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence of guilt of another three members of the ‘DNR’ terrorist organization, who actively participated in warfare against Ukrainian Defence Forces.
At the beginning of the full-scale aggression, they voluntarily joined the occupation groups of the Southern military district of the aggressor state.
The militants were captured by Ukrainian defenders during combat in Novobakhmutivka and Pisky districts of Donetsk region.
Following the SSU’s investigation, court sentenced them to 8 to 10 years of imprisonment.
According to the investigation, the convicted militants are local residents, who in 2014-2015 joined the terrorist groups in eastern Ukraine and fought against the ATO forces.
After February 24, 2022, together with the aggressor, they participated in offensive operations to capture settlements in Donetsk sector.
One of the militants was a member of the enemy special purpose regiment Oplot. Being a machine gunner, he fired at the positions of Ukrainian troops near Dokuchaevsk and Yasne village.
The other two perpetrators were in the ranks of the occupation units Kalmius and ‘100th motorized rifle brigade’ of the DNR’s 1st army corps of the russian armed forces.
In August, they were sent to Pisky area to set up firing positions and capture transport infrastructure facilities.
Based on the collected evidence, court found the militants guilty under the Articles of the CCU:
- 110 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
- 258-3 (participation in a terrorist organization);
- 260 (participation in unlawful armed groups).
The SSU emphasizes the inevitability of punishment for crimes against Ukraine’s state security.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
