Following SSU’s investigation, informant of pro-russian blogger working for FSB sentenced to prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another member of an agent network of the FSB has been convicted to 9 years in prison. The enemy cell was neutralized in early October last year in Mykolaiv region.
Then, as a result of a multi-stage special operation, SSU cyber units detained 13 enemy assets who were reconnoitering positions of Ukraine’s Defence Forces and adjusting russian air strikes on the region.
All of them were in direct contact with the pro-russian blogger Sergey Lebedev (better known as ‘Lokhmatyi’), who is hiding in Donetsk and works for the FSB.
According to the investigation, his convicted accomplice is a 33-year-old resident of Mykolaiv, recruited remotely by the russian service shortly after the start of the full-scale invasion.
His repeated statements in pro-kremlin Telegram channels in support of the invaders brought him to the FSB’s attention.
The agent tried to identify temporary bases of the AFU’s command posts and main routes of movement of Ukrainian military equipment.
The perpetrator conducted additional reconnaissance of enemy hits after massive russian air attacks on the region.
The occupiers needed the intelligence to adjust strikes on local infrastructure.
The informant used a popular messenger to communicate with the aggressor and transmitted the data in text messages.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on sending, transfer of weapons, movement, transfer or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law) and sentenced him to 9 years in prison.
This is the sixth court verdict against members of this FSB’s network. Due to the SSU’s efforts, another five perpetrators have been sentenced to 8 to 15 years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
