Following SSU’s investigation, former guard of russian torture chamber in Kherson oblast sentenced to prison

The SSU systemically brings to justice traitors and collaborators who took part in repressions against civilians in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.

As a result of an investigation, the SSU collected evidence proving the guilt of a former guard of a russian torture chamber that operated during Kherson’s temporary occupation.

When the city was liberated, the offender decided to flee to Odesa, where tried to lay low and evade justice.

However, the SSU found and detained the guard.

Given his cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced him to 8 years in prison with a 10-year disqualification from holding any position in law enforcement and confiscation of property.

According to the investigation, the person in question is a former employee of the Northern Correctional Colony No 90 in Kherson, who, during the occupation, collaborated with the enemy.

For this, he was offered a ‘position’ in the ‘correctional facility’ established by the aggressor.

The man agreed and voluntarily applied to join the ‘institution’.

There, he was assigned to a security unit of the russian facility, to which ruscists illegally brought locals under repressions.

Most victims were members of the resistance movement.

In the jail, occupiers tortured Ukrainians and tried to force them to cooperate with the enemy.

The collaborator helped the aggressor guard the cells and the perimeter of the torture chamber.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).

The SSU Odesa Office carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
