Following SSU investigation, ruscist who killed civilian in Kyiv region sentenced to prison term

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another russian occupier involved in the murder of civilians during the battle for Kyiv has been convicted to prison.

The perpetrator is Radik Gukasyan, a 29-year-old contract soldier from the 331st parachute regiment of the 98th airborne division of the russian armed forces.

During the battles for Kyiv, he, along with other ruscists, shot at a civilian car near Bucha, killing the driver. To cover up the crime, the occupiers buried the victim’s body in the forest.

Ukrainian defenders took Gukasyan prisoner during the fighting in Kherson region in August 2022.

According to the investigation, the soldier was in the russian occupation grouping that took part in russia’s full-scale invasion from the very first days.

During the occupation of Kyiv region, he and his accomplices shelled and looted local homes, sending the stolen things to russia.

After the SSU’s investigation, the court found Gukasyan guilty under Articles 28.2, 438.1, 438.2 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder, committed by a group).

Given his cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced the ruscist to 12 years in prison.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Main Investigation Department under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
