Following SSU’s investigation, college teacher sentenced to prison for spying in Zaporizhzhia region
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another FSB informant has been convicted to prison for collecting intelligence on positions of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
The perpetrator turned out to be a teacher at a local technical college.
He set up an ‘observation post’ in his own cottage, in a garden community near the southern front.
From there, the enemy asset tried to identify locations of the AFU units using binoculars and other equipment.
He also rode his bicycle in the nearby areas and recorded the movement of Ukrainian military equipment.
The SSU detained the suspect in July 2023 during his reconnaissance ‘sortie’.
Given his cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced him to 9 years in prison.
According to the investigation, the agent communicated with the occupiers through a ‘liaison’. This was a blogger from a pro-kremlin Telegram channel who was in the temporarily occupied territory and worked for the FSB.
He recruited the Zaporizhzhia college teacher remotely, after seeing his anti-Ukrainian comments in the messenger app.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement, transfer of the AFU, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Zaporizhzhia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
