Following SSU investigation, russian putinist actor Mashkov convicted in absentia

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, russian actor Vladimir Mashkov, who is praising russia’s war against Ukraine, has been sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison.

The SSU also confiscated his 100 m² apartment in an elite neighborhood on Odesa coast.

As the perpetrator is hiding in the aggressor state, the trial was held in a special court proceeding in absentia.

Mashkov is a member of the kremlin’s pool of propagandists and often speaks at mass rallies in support of the war against Ukraine.

In December 2023, the propagandist was appointed co-chairman of putin’s ‘election staff’ for the so-called presidential elections in russia.

Then, Mashkov travelled around russia and the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine, promoting ruscism and glorifying the occupation troops.

Among other things, during the pro-kremlin concerts and rallies, he called for continuation of missile and bomb attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found Mashkov guilty under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 110.2 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
  • 436 (propaganda of war).

Efforts to bring the criminal to justice are underway.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Vinnytsia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
