Following SSU investigation, two foreign fsb informants convicted for spying on UAF headquarters in Odesa
Based on the evidence collected be the SSU, two fsb informants who operated in Odesa have been convicted to prison for spying on locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces` command centers.
The UAF headquarters on the southern front were of particular importance to the perpetrators.
In April this year, the SSU officers detained both offenders red-handed in the course of conducting a special operation in the regional center.
russian informants were trying to photograph the perimeter of the potential target`s building and to send its location to the aggressor. Once the occupiers received the relevant coordinates, they planned to launch a fire attack on them. However, the SSU foiled the ruscists` plans.
Following the SSU investigation, the court sentenced both perpetrators to 8 years in prison.
The investigators found that the convicts are citizens of a South Caucasus country, who lived in Odesa. There, they were remotely involved in the fsb` reconnaissance and subversive activities.
To identify the `right` targets, the foreigners walked around the area trying to define locations of the Defense Forces and then gathered information about personnel and their functions.
The offenders hoped to create their own network of informants, whom they planned to recruit under the guise of a public organization.
Based on the evidence, the court found both criminals guilty under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed under martial law).
The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Odesa region under the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
