Following SSU investigation, collaborator who posed as monk and blessed russian tanks during battles for Kyiv sentenced to prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another traitor, who cooperated with the aggressor during the battles for Kyiv, has been convicted.

During the occupation of Andriivka village in Bucha district, the man put on a monk’s robe and came to the positions of russian troops.

He offered the ruscists his help in the war against Ukraine. At first, he ‘quartered’ a russian squad in his house; later – provided the invaders with food and tipped them off to the homes of his fellow villagers, which they later plundered.

The collaborator also blessed convoys of russian armoured vehicles moving towards the front line. However, the individual had no actual connection to church.

He was given ‘privileges’ to move freely around the community and visit the occupiers’ staff.

After the area was liberated, the ‘monk’ remained in the village and hoped to hide from prosecution.

The SSU documented his criminal actions and detained him in April 2022.

Following the investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111-1.4, 111-1.6 of the CCU (collaboration).

Given his cooperation with the investigation, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
