Russian agent detained is sentenced to imprisonment
The agent of Russian special services, exposed by the SBU CI, is sentenced to six years of imprisonment. The criminal gathered intelligence about units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as prepared to commit a terrorist attack at a military facility in the city of Mariupol.
During the detention, the SBU seized an improvised device, which he kept in a cache. According to experts, the force of the explosion could be equivalent to 12 F-1 grenades.
The pre-trial investigation established that a resident of Donetsk region took part in hostilities against ATO forces. The man was recruited by representatives of the FSB. Following their instruction, he arrived in the city of Mariupol to gather intelligence and commit terrorist attacks.
The court found the criminal guilty of:
- high treason;
- participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization;
- unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives;
- mercenary.
